“The Miseducation of Hip-Hop—Discrimination in Education”

I definitely believe that Hinmon has a right to dress any way he likes without being stereotyped. Unfortunately, wearing the saggy/baggy jeans and having your hair in braids or dreadlocks is often stereotyped as ‘thuggish’ or ‘hood’. People have different ways of expressing themselves whether it is through clothing, hair, tattoos, etc. For example, Rastafarians keep their hair in dreadlocks based on the bible’s command not to cut one’s hair and to represent the lion’s mane, which stands for strength. Until you know the actually person wearing the hair, one should not pass judgment. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions and Midgette has a right to his. It is unfortunate that stereotypes of all kinds control society. I personally do not like to see the saggy pants with the underwear showing and would not like to see the leaders of today walking around like that. I believe there is a time and place for everything and clothes that fit properly and are on the correct part of your waist is a professional look. To be taken seriously, one must dress the part. When you reach the point of your education when you are going on internships and interviews you should dress to impress and show you mean business.
